Q-1. Can I secure my spooler (.spl) files by encyrpting the Spooler folder on my print server using EFS?

A-1. This is not supported (despite what this very old TechNet article says) and may cause unexpected results on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. A better approach is to not spool documents at all on the server. To configure this, open the printer's properties, select the Advanced tab, and select the option labeled Print Directly To The Printer.
